High Volume Price Calculation for Tour Operator Products

High Volume Price Calculation for Tour Operator Products

Schedule
June 20, 10:50am
Room
Matterhorn 2

My name is Bart Hansen, and as a Delivery Focused Architect, I am currently working at TUI Western-Europe.

The business context I support is all about planning and created holiday products, and selling these through Retail and Web channels. The footprint covered includes Belgium, France and The Netherlands reaching a total of almost 5 billion Euros.

In this context we've completed a Proof-of-concept project based on the Gridgain technology, to make one single solution to calculate product pricing in real-time answering requests coming from all our source markets. Previously we could only reach the high volume, high speed and high availability requirements by using huge volume pre-calculated cache databases. But these solutions give us less precise, slower and more expensive results compared to what we achieved using Gridgain.

The solution is not in production yet, but we already started to think how we could solve more of our challenges using Gridgain, such as our Search and Availability functionality.

In the talk we would like to present the audience the steps taken to the results achieved, give more insights in the non-functional requirements we need to achieve, and the solution we plan to push into production.
